Presenting a combination of Private and Public sectors with experience spanning 16 years - focused on driving the delivery of economic development solutions and opportunities in South Africa. Njabulo has been part of economic development work & consulting for various South African State Owned Companies (Blue IQ & Coega), consulted for Transnet, and previously worked as a Senior Economist for KPMG and Standard Bank’s Economics Division.

Njabulo has worked as an Advisor on Economic Policy to various politicians, he is also the Deputy Head of Research at SACO. He is the Project Manager for an Agricultural Sector Climate Change Resilience Project funded by the International Fund Agency for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Has been a lead economist: for a Creative Industries Research Project at the DAC: his work included an assessment of key economic indicators such as employment, demographics, outputs, ratios, turnover, value-add, profits, foreign exchange, exports (2013 &2017)

Founded the Coega research unit, responsible for

  • Developing the Coega IDZ 5year strategy
  • Site Location Research for Logistics, Automotive and Renewable Energy Sectors
  • Research support for the Global Markets team,
  • Developing industry profiles for the Chemicals, Aluminum, Automotive, Energy sectors, Commercial Property, and Steel Sectors
  • Being part of the University of Johannesburg team doing research in the Capital Equipment sector, measuring sector performance, global trends and strategy development for the Sector.
  • Worked on the economic impact assessment of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Flagship Projects, including Data Analysis and Report Writing.
  • Consulting on the Assessment of the Industrial Development Zones (IDZ)’s Integration with the local industries outside their zones and their impact on the export growth and employment creation
  • Economic Impact Assessment of City Marathons: the Case of the Soweto Marathon
  • Economic and Sectoral Profiling of Selected SADC Countries for a Major Bank
  • Led the development of the Framework for Creative Industries Statistics;
  • Technical Advisor to an International Rail and Logistics Company

Cultural Observatory issues call for National Conference papers

January 31, 2017: THE SOUTH African Cultural Observatory (SACO) today announced the theme for its national conference of the arts, heritage and culture sectors.
